JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

Umatilla County Fire District #1 is hiring for the position of Battalion Chief of Training. Under general administrative direction of the Deputy Chief of Strategic Services, the Battalion Chief (BC) of Training will Coordinate with the Deputy Chief of Strategic Services and the EMS Coordinator in the development and implementation of standardized training for the District. The Training BC will be directly responsible for developing, conducting, and/or facilitating fire training. This is a supervisory position.

HIRING TIMELINE:

• OPENS: July 5, 2023 @ 8:00 a.m.
• CLOSES: August 15, 2023 @ 5:00 p.m.
• ASSESSMENT CENTER: August 23rd from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• CHIEF’S INTERVIEW: August 28th from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• PROJECTED START DATE: Oct. 16th, 2023

HIRING PROCESS:

Successful candidates moving on to the assessment center will be notified by mail and email by August 18, 2023. Information regarding assessment center will be provided in notification packet. Successful candidates must sign a waiver for background checks.

COMPENSATION:

$78,420 – $123,048 annually depending on education, experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• EMT — Oregon Certified or able to obtain within 3 months of hire
• Eight (8) years of career experience
• Possess a valid Driver’s License
• AAS Degree in Fire Science, Fire Protection Technology, or Emergency Medical Services 
• NFPA Instructor II
• NFPA Fire Officer II
• NWCG Single Resource Boss Engine
• NFPA Hazardous Materials On-scene Incident Commander (Shall be obtained within one (1) year of appointment)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• NFPA Fire Officer III certification
• NFPA Instructor III
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration, Public Administration or related field. 
• Paramedic
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS Instructor 
• NWCG Task Force Leader
