Scott has been in the Oregon Fire Service for the last 31 years starting in 1986 as a Volunteer firefighter for the City of Phoenix. Scott attended Chemeketa Community College, and worked for Turner Fire District in the Willamette Valley before returning to the City of Phoenix in 1991. Scott worked his way through the ranks of Firefighter and Captain, and was the Fire Chief for the City of Phoenix from 1997 to 2000.
From September 2000 to December 2017 Scott worked for the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office and was duty stationed in Pendleton. Scott performed many duties including fire code enforcement, fire investigations, healthcare facility inspections, and fire prevention in multiple counties in Northeast Oregon.
In 2008 Scott and family moved to Stanfield where he volunteered with Stanfield Fire District and continued to volunteer following the creation of Umatilla County Fire District #1. Scott started January 1, 2018 as the Fire Marshal for Umatilla County Fire District #1 replacing retiring Fire Marshal Tom Bohm.
