UCFD#1 Reminds Community to Practice Firework Safety
The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and UCFD#1 is encouraging its community to exercise caution when celebrating.
With hot &dry conditions across the Eastern Oregon region this summer, brush and wildfires are quick to start, and fireworks can easily become a fire hazard when not monitored correctly.
If you plan to light off fireworks, please remember these important safety tips!:
- Always keep a bucket of water, a fire extinguisher, or a hose at the ready.
- Dispose of duds by dropping them in water before throwing them away.
- Check local jurisdiction rules and regulations before lighting off
- Watch your hands and fingers to avoid burns

Those who misuse fireworks or allow fireworks to cause damage may be held liable and required to pay fire suppression costs or other damages.
Keep It Legal & Keep It Safe!
